The Japan-Center

The Japan-Center at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich specializes in the study and research of Japan. With the aim of providing a wide range of knowledge combined with comprehensive language skills and cultural competencies, modern Japan is investigated in the context of both its historical as well as present-day developments and global interdependencies. The many disciplines represented at the Japan-Center reflect the research areas of the academic staff: language, literature, history and cultural history, religion and philosophy, society, politics, and economy of Japan.
